This post is an inside look into the background of how I incorporated many different artistic mediums into making one piece of clothing. I frequently go through this process when designing clothing and it's one of the reasons I love having a variety of different mediums and outlets for expressing creativty.

The process begins with creating a tangible piece of art through drawing, painting, and/or mixed media. With this piece I collaged my old prescription paperworks to create the background then used markers and paint for the portrait of a woman and included additional magazine paper scraps to add texture to the hair.

After finishing and photgraphing the piece I upload it into Adobe Illustrator to create a vector image and clean up the line work. Next I transfer it into Adobe Photoshop to continue editing and playing with color.

Finally I am able to print my design onto heat transfer vinyl where I'm then able to transfer it onto fabric. For this piece I transfer the design onto an old white tank top. I then used recyled fabric to create straps and a skirt piece ultimately creating a dress!
